Palin passes on offer to go hunting while in Augusta

November 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

When news broke that former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was coming to town Monday to stump for Saxby Chambliss , people started scrambling to make reservations to attend the event.

Rob Pavey , The Chronicle ’s outdoors editor, had a different idea. He invited her to take a break from all that politicking to go deer hunting.

“Our whitetails aren’t nearly as big as those Alaskan bull moose,” he wrote in an e-mail to the governor, “but they’re a lot sneakier and more fun to hunt.”

“That’s a terrific invitation,” Mrs. Palin’s press secretary Bill McAllister responded, “but unfortunately not practical given the governor’s tight schedule. She’s also going to Philadelphia to meet with the president-elect. She might want a rain check on that, though!”

November 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It seems that Froma Harrop of Creator’s Syndicate news service was on vacation from just about five days before the general election until today and she’s just catching up on all the Palin hatin’ she must have missed. Unfortunately for Harrop, she still hasn’t caught up with the truth yet because her latest is filled with every lie about Governor Palin she could jam into one column, quite despite that for weeks her digs have been proven lies.

Palin encourages special needs families

WASHINGTON — One of the most valuable aspects of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s vice presidential candidacy was her focusing national attention on the strengths and value of special needs children, says a pro-life leader and mother of a special needs child.

“Her child, my child and every special needs child are not to be pitied,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, in a written statement. “What a salve to the soul that Palin understands and articulates this. It brings so many special people and their families out of the shadows and into the limelight. They have so much to be proud of, and she helps them recognize that.”

Palin’s fifth child, Trig, entered the world in April prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome. Advocacy organizations, along with parents of special needs children, agree that Palin helped raise awareness and appreciation for children diagnosed with special needs.

Oprah, Leno, Letterman: What’s Palin to do next?

November 23, 2008 · 1 Comment

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Sarah Palin is juggling offers to write books, appear in films and sit on dozens of interview couches at a rate astonishing for most Hollywood stars, let alone a first-term governor.

Oprah wants her. So do Letterman and Leno.

Governor Palin…let ‘em grovel.  These same hosts who had nothing positive to say about you during the campaign now need you and your popularity to boost their ratings.  You have nothing to gain by sitting for an interview with these partisan hate-mongers.  (Many of us on your side have already given up on watching Oprah, Leno, and Letterman anyway!)

Audiences gobble up latest Palin interview

November 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s being called “gobblegate,” “the interview of death,” and “Silence of the Turkeys.”

Gov. Sarah Palin granted a Thanksgiving pardon to a turkey at a Mat-Su poultry farm on Thursday, a photo-op associated with presidents but done by governors as well.

But by Friday, video of Palin giving an upbeat interview while other turkeys were being slaughtered behind her had turned into an Internet sensation, with the governor once again at the center of controversy.
